The popular adage, ‘Imitation is the best form of flattery.’ couldn’t be any more apt than with King’s runaway hit Candy Crush Saga. The game has become so huge around the world, that it didn’t take long for other game developers to ride its coattails, so to speak. Here are a few games that’s like Candy Crush but not exactly like Candy Crush. You think they’ll also come out with something like Candy Crush cheats but not exactly like Candy Crush cheats too?
Sugar rush is what you get after consuming half your weight in candy in one sitting, or getting four Color Bombs in a level of Candy Crush. However, this particular Sugar Rush is by game developer Full Fat is neither of those. It’s a game inspired by Candy Crush. It even has the same guy with the same mustache.
The gameplay is pretty much the same as Candy Crush. You line up the same candies to match and pop them. I guess instead of lollipop hammers you get a fairy with a magic wand for boosters.
- Pop to match candies as fast as you can to get your Sugar Rush!
- Swipe up and down to make huge matches!
- Find and pop all of the Special Candies.
- Trigger Jackpots for huge rewards.
- Equip sweet boosts for even bigger scores.
- Compete with friends in daily and weekly tournaments.
- Win prizes every day!
The biggest difference of Sugar Rush from Candy Crush though is that the candies are coming from the top and bottom part of the screen.
Will it take over Candy Crush?
Unfortunately, I don’t think Sugar Rush will come to the level of Candy Crush anytime soon. Even with the slight change in gameplay, it’s just too similar to Candy Crush. It doesn’t offer anything of added value for those that already played (or are currently playing) Candy Crush to switch at this point.
Candy Pop Saga
What’s interesting about Candy Pop Saga is that it says “If you love playing the above games such as Candy Crush Saga, Bejeweled, Jewel Quest, you’ll definitely love this game” and “a simpler game with Pop Star and Diamond Dash style game play” in the same breath. A bold move, given that its name is practically Candy Crush Saga with Crush changed to Pop.
Candy Pop Saga features:
- Cute and colorful candy graphics
- Easy to play, challenging to master
- Over 50 fun levels
- Leaderboards for you and your friends
- Special candies to purchase from Candy Store
Even though it has the same board game, candy pieces, and Facebook integration that Candy Crush has, Candy Pop Saga by Rival Edge slightly has a different game play. Instead of lining up the same candies, you can match two or more candies that are next to each other and for three pieces and above, their sides have to touch. This means that there are more opportunities to create combinations aside from just lining up the candies.
Will it take over Candy Crush?
Unlike Sugar Rush, Candy Pop Saga has taken the Candy Crush basics and added something new. Honestly, I find myself wishing that they just ditched the Candy Crush Saga reference and created a different game with the same game play that they have now.
